Members and visitors enjoyed a great Festival in Maybole Town Hall on 25th September, with a hot Latin theme and plenty of themed events. Young musicians played live on stage, with an additional impromptu performance from Jenny and Fiona on Scots fiddle. There was a real buzz to the events in the main hall, with Meabh Bradley on creative corner clay, Judith Godden leading on pewter embossed plate, and Leona Stewart on Fiesta and Day of the Dead Facemarks, to be used at Tamfest. Roddy McKenzie led the Art Research station, using an iPad to research place names from our wall chart of South America, going on to make artworks based on the information and images. Farah Portela led a sparkling salsa class, and Daniela Hathaway took a Spanish song class. Thanks are due to Anthony of 'The Cause' for a fantastic sound system, and to ADFAS committee members for their help in running the pop-up cafe.
Hi, the Festival is almost here! Excitement is building as we prepare for this free event, between 11- 4 on Sunday 25th September @ Maybole Town Hall. We have a colourful Latin American theme for 2016. Performance workshops include a Salsa dance class at 1pm and Spanish Songs at 3pm. The main hall will have a variety of tables, including a 'research the map' mural, Fiesta masks, creating jewelled South American insects, Mexican sunsets, weaving, clay models, and embossed pewter. There will be live music on stage, and 'probably the best pop-up cafe in Ayrshire'. Don't miss out! Viva la Fiesta! |
